Thank you for the research! Jumps are so practical but not much discussed. This pair seem more for show than warmth, with the applique and piping and the fancy front closing. Perhaps it might have been part of a stage or dance costume?

So glad you liked it! Yes they are very different from the standard design. Unfortunately I have no way of knowing why they are made this way. I guess any theory is a good one ? I wish I had a time machine!

Aw thank you, I do my best ? It's possible that they could be a woven applique, I just couldn't see inside the peplums enough to verify one way or the other ?. The texture is very similar to that seen on a taffeta ribbon, small interlocking stitches running parallel, I guess it will have to remain a mystery until I can get hold of a tiny endoscope so I can see inside little holes ?
