Thankd so much for that Gina, will be making this one ine June - http://collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O117401/riding-habit-jacket/ so your article is timed perfectly - will help me a lot. havent found a good braid yet, so i might have to make one on my own.....
Oh I love that one too - is it for you? (That would look great on you) Making your own braid will at least ensure a terrific match!
yes, for me - and for the article here. does your DVD include instructions how to make a braid like the V&A one?
Izabela, I think that the one on that particular jacket is machine-made. If you want a hand-made braid, I'd suggest an 8 element plait - which looks like a soutache braid, but works up easily. A 5 loop fingerloop would work well too, but not period correct (not a problem of course if you are going steampunk!). Both are on my Braids & Cords dvd, but if you follow the link through to my trimmings article above - there are instructions for an 8 and 5 element there. (Benefit of being a subscriber!) ;-)
great Gina, will be making it myself - searched for a right machine made one for a year and failed miserably. will get the dvd then:-)
