A reproduction of English Lady by Lucas de Heere. I loved the unusual color of the fitted gown, as green is really uncommon in Renaissance dresses. I wanted to make a costume that was historically accurate to the best of my abilities. One interesting construction note is that there is no boning anywhere in this gown. The kirtle uses careful fitting and fabric layers to allow it to be supportive of my bust and give the right foundation shape.
I got to see this in person, and it's even more impressive! The fit is really nice, and the chevron stripes make it really pop. So great to see a middle class dress with oomph!
Hey Nonny Nonny Mouse
And you're a beginner?! I know from personal experience how tricky C17th clothing can be and I'm really impressed with what you've created here. Shoulder rolls, especially, are hard to get right but you've done a wonderful job and the overall look is brilliant. You've created just the right shape and silhouette. (Love the hat, too!)
