  As a retired nurse myself, I want to thank you for this research and for your articles.

You mentioned the importance of underpinnings, etc. I must ask you about the last photograph in this particular article. It appears that the breasts under the cardigan are showing extreme "East-Westing." Can you comment on what might have been underneath that cardigan?

  Good question, as now, not everyone would have worn underpinnings to the same level and extent. Reform dressing was still informing some women's choices for underwear, also, the Edwardian corset did not hold the bust firm, so, heading 'east-west' as you say would happen.
